As an official charity partner of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, StreetSquash had the honor of participating in a range of events throughout the week-long competition. To kick off the tournament, one lucky StreetSquasher, Conner ’21, participated in a Pro-Am on the glass court with Nick Matthew, World #4 and founding member of the StreetSquash Professional Squash Advisory Board.
Throughout the tournament, StreetSquash students volunteered as ball boys and ball girls, keeping the court safe and clean for the pros. StreetSquashers also attended a clinic in Grand Central, where they received squash instruction from Nele Gilis, Belgium’s #1 female squash player, and Nick Matthew. StreetSquash alumna, Jazmin Matos, presented an inspiring, thoughtful speech at the Women’s Leadership Luncheon, recounting her experience in urban squash. To round out the week-long excitement of the Tournament of Champions, three lucky StreetSquashers sat court side for the finals, representing the program while taking in the world-class competition.
