Over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, StreetSquash sent 65 students to the City of Brotherly Love for the 2017 Urban Team Nationals. Hosted by the Philadelphia-based urban squash program, SquashSmarts, the weekend included three squash-filled days of competition against nearly 500 students from urban squash programs across the country.
Day 1: StreetSquash high school students arrive at Drexel University for the UTN Opening Ceremony, while our middle school students headed to the SquashSmarts’ Lenfest Center.
Day 2: George offers his words of wisdom and encouragement (“Keep it tight!”), while huddling up with the GU17 ladies, prior to the semi-finals against Chicago’s MetroSquash.
Day 3: Fatou ’18, Zeinab ’19, Harriet ’17, Ajayla ’18 and Kianna ’18 display their hard-earned runner-up plates from the GU17 Division.
