Ty’Asia joined StreetSquash in 2018. She graduated from Rutgers University-Newark in 2018 with a BA in Social Work and a minor in Criminal Justice. Her experiences at Rutgers-Newark include school counseling, academic advising, and even advocation for the homeless, all of which have groomed her to join the StreetSquash team.
Natasha joined StreetSquash in 2019. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in General-Theoretical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Walden University. Natasha has spent her career working with young people in higher education, providing behavioral stabilization and support interventions to foster care youth, and serving as a Director of Youth Services at PRAB, a human services organization serving over 30,000 individuals and families annually in New Jersey.
Prior to joining StreetSquash, Natasha was a Program Coordinator in the School of Arts and Sciences Educational Opportunity Fund at Rutgers University.
Sasha joined StreetSquash in 2010. She graduated from Columbia University with an MSW in 2009 and is a licensed New York State Social Worker. She received her BS at Skidmore College in Social Work and Spanish. Sasha played 4 years of Varsity Softball, was captain for 2 years, and earned All-League academic and athletic honors.
Sasha has worked at various youth development organizations in New York City including the Urban Dove, BuildOn, HarlemRBI, and Girls for Gender Equity. Sasha previously served as Academic Director until assuming her current role in 2013.
Nicola joined StreetSquash in 2017. She graduated from CUNY Medgar Evers College in 2008 with a BA in Psychology. She then completed a M.A. Program in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2012. While completing her masters, Nicola worked as a college counselor at an Educational Talent Search TRiO program at Brooklyn College
Nicola is also an active member of professional organizations dedicated to increasing access and success in higher education for under-served and under-represented young people.
Assumpta joined StreetSquash in 2012. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Psychology in 2003, and earned a Master’s in Public Health in 2008 from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
Before joining StreetSquash, Assumpta was the High School Program and College Prep Coordinator at the Lang Youth Medical Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She also worked as a health education program coordinator and reproductive health counselor at school-based health center in Oakland, California.
Monique joined StreetSquash as a staff member in 2013 after many active years on the StreetSquash Family Leadership Board. She is a proud StreetSquash parent, mother of Nasean Catron (’14).
Jazmin joined StreetSquash in 2019. She graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a BA in French and a minor in Spanish. While at F&M, Jazmin competed on the varsity squash team for all four years and interned at Squash ACES.
Prior to joining StreetSquash, she worked as the Operations and Events Director at the Squash and Education Alliance, the national governing organization for squash and education programs like StreetSquash. Jazmin is a proud StreetSquash alumna (‘12).
Simba began his squash career at age six in his home country of Zimbabwe, and moved to the United States in 2005, when he joined the Trinity College Squash team. In addition to being named captain his senior year, Simba was a Second Team All-American, and won five National Collegiate Championships (four as a player, and one as an assistant coach). After graduating, he moved to Massachusetts, and served as Head Squash Professional at Cross Courts Squash and Fitness Center for seven years.
Simba is heavily involved with US Squash, and is a Level 3 Certified Coach, as well as a Certified Gold Tournament Director. Simba has coached the US Junior National Team in various international events, and was recently appointed the Men’s Jr. National Assistant Coach. Prior to coming to StreetSquash, Simba served as the Assistant Director of Squash at the Apawamis Club in Rye, NY.
George founded StreetSquash in 1999. He received a BA in Spanish Literature from Harvard University, where he was a co-captain of the 3-time national champion varsity squash team and earned All-Ivy and All-American titles. After his 1992 graduation, George spent 4 years teaching Spanish in Seattle middle and high schools. He also played squash for the U.S. team in the 1997 Maccabiah games.
George earned an MSW in 1999 from the NYU School of Social Work and is a certified social worker in the state of New York.
Karl joined StreetSquash in 2019. He graduated from the University at Albany in 2016 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Africana Studies. After college, Karl worked with Americorps’ City Year New York, and has served as a Resident Counselor with Summer Discovery at University of Pennsylvania and UCLA. Most recently, Karl worked with The Boys Club of New York before joining StreetSquash as an Academic Coordinator.
Katiria joined StreetSquash as a Squash Coordinator in 2016. She graduated from Trinity College in 2016 with a BA in International Studies and Hispanic Studies. While at Trinity she competed on the varsity squash team and also served as a Squash Intern at Capital Squash. Katiria is a proud CitySquash Alum (’12).
Katie rejoined StreetSquash in 2018. Katie graduated from Vassar College in 2006 with a BA in Africana Studies and Political Science, and went on to earn a Masters in Education from Brooklyn College in 2008 through the NYC Teaching Fellows. After two years teaching elementary school in Brooklyn, Katie came to StreetSquash and worked as a Squash Director until 2011, when she moved to Minnesota to serve as the Executive Director of Beyond Walls: Urban Squash Twin Cities.
In 2014 Katie moved to Connecticut and spent a year as the Director of Family Advocacy at Stamford Academy, an alternative high school. Before finding her way back to StreetSquash, Katie worked with the Squash and Education Alliance, StreetSquash’s parent organization.
