Over 35 colleges and universities participate in annual college fair

8th Annual College Fair was a huge success! A total of 38 colleges and 1 alternative program attended, a record so far. StreetSquashers applied their lessons learned about professional introductions, and learned a ton about the schools present. I heard great comments from the colleges – “did you prep them? They were so professional” and both 9th and 11th grades got shout-outs from multiple colleges for their smart questions and genuine interest. We had visiting groups from StreetSquash Newark, CitySquash, and Harlem Children’s Zone, who helped fill the space and kept colleges busy the entire time, as well as some caregivers (Serge’s mom, Justin’s dad, Ajayla’s dad, Nasir’s mom, among others).

Overall I was really happy with behavior and engagement from all of them – so many should get shout outs but Assumpta awarded MVP to Harriet for being completely engaged the whole fair and taking it really seriously.

Huge thank you to everyone for your help today – Katie, Madeleine, Edgardo, Jenn, Assumpta, Amar for the heavy lifting this morning, Melody, Clare, Tai, Sasha, Sareen + CAS for helping keep kids engaged during the fair, Gabby, Monique, James for helping wrap up the day smoothly and efficiently.
