StreetSquash Adds Third Academic Coordinator

StreetSquash is proud to welcome Clara Greenstein to the Academic team. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Clara went on to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington where she studied classical Latin and writing before earning a Masters Degree in Secondary English Teaching.

Clara spent the last three years in Oakland, California teaching 10th grade English and Creative Writing. During her years teaching, she also served as coach of the school’s Boys JV Soccer team leading the 2021 squad to a championship in the Oakland Athletic League.

“I watched students who had not previously prioritized their classwork find the motivation to excel in class,” Clara said. “The experience affirmed my belief that sports and academics are most powerful when combined.”

As a result, she found StreetSquash where she said she wanted to apply her teaching and coaching experience to help our students in Harlem.

“In my job search, I was impressed with the holistic squash, college, and academic support offered by StreetSquash,” Clara said.

Clara will be working with 10th and 11th graders at StreetSquash conducting one-on-one academic check-ins, communicating with caregivers, facilitating group programming, and conducting school visits.

In her spare time, Clara enjoys playing pool, riding her bike, going to the gym, and doing crossword puzzles. She’s also a skilled latte artist having previously worked as a barista during high school and college.
