StreetSquash Junior Cup Earns Over $100,000 for First Time Since Pandemic

The 12th Annual StreetSquash Junior Cup was a huge success, bringing in more than $104,000 in support of StreetSquash programming.

An exciting bidding war between the two top fundraising teams helped push the fundraising total past the $100,000 mark on the day of the event. The Squash Academy and The Kill Shots were both vying for the top fundraising prize, a custom StreetSquash branded Harrow Vapor squash racquet.

By the time the cutoff to earn the top prize was reached, both teams had secured $12,780, resulting in a tie. Therefore, all players on the rosters for The Squash Academy and The Kill Shots received a custom racquet.

Twenty teams, consisting of over 120 junior squash players participated in the event all with the goal of raising $5,000. In addition to The Squash Academy and The Kill Shots, 7 additional teams surpassed the $5,000 fundraising goal with Brearley, The New York Nicks, and Harvard Club cruising past $8,000. Saber the Moment raised over $7,000 and Apawamis and StreetSquash both raised over $5,000.

Donations continued to flow in following the conclusion of the Junior Cup and contributions can still be made here. This year marks the third time in history that the StreetSquash Junior Cup raised over $100,000, and the more than $104,000 marks the second most money the event has raised other than the $134,000 raised at the 8th Annual StreetSquash Junior Cup in 2018.

The top individual fundraisers received a custom StreetSquash branded Harrow backpack. Those who brought in the most individual donors of more than $25 received a Harrow racket and bag.

The event was split into two sessions with 10 teams playing in the morning and 10 in the afternoon. Within each session, there were two separate groups consisting of five teams. That means in total, there were four winners of the 12th Annual StreetSquash Junior Cup.

In the morning session, StreetSquash and The Harvard Club emerged victorious in their respective groups. In the afternoon, Open Squash and the New York Squashers were the two winners. Players on the winning teams received a trophy and a $15 gift card to FieldTrip, a fast-casual restaurant that specializes in rice bowls.

The event was livestreamed on StreetSquash’s YouTube page and had 114 unique viewers in addition to the packed house at the SL Green StreetSquash Center involving caregivers, participants, staff, and volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who made the StreetSquash Junior Cup a huge success and we’re excited to see what the 13th iteration of the event has in store in 2025!
