StreetSquash Revives the Junior Cup

StreetSquash revived its Junior Cup, holding the event for the first time since 2019. The 11th Annual StreetSquash Junior Cup brought together about 100 junior squash players from in and around the NYC area.

Competition was de-emphasized with a focus on fundraising. In total, more than $42,000 was raised to support StreetSquash programming.

Competitors who raised the most money leading up to the event were rewarded with top-of-the-line rackets which were generously donated by Dunlop.

On court, there were a total of four groups that played in two sessions. The “Orange” and “Yellow” groups played in the morning and the “Red” and “Blue” groups played in the afternoon.

The Orange group featured the teams, Rye Country Day, Fresh NY Bagels, The New York Nicks, Apawamis, and The Squash Academy. The New York Nicks were the victors of the group.

The Yellow group consisted of SquashRx, The River Club, The Squash Academy 2.0, and two StreetSqusah teams. SquashRx led the group edging The Squash Academy 2.0 by just one point.

In the Red group was Bronxville Squash, LBSQUASH, the Eagles, the Gladiators, and StreetSquash’s top team. The StreetSquash team won their group.

The Blue group contained Just Squash It, The Westchester Lifetime All-Stars, New York Athletic Club, and two additional StreetSquash teams. Just Squash It came out on top.

For the first time ever, the StreetSquash Junior Cup was livestreamed on YouTube and video from the event remains available to watch. The Junior Cup stream had nearly 400 views. View photos from the event below.
