StreetSquash sent 12 of our most talented student athletes to NUSEA’s summer squash squads at Deerfield Academy, Stanford University, and University of Virginia. The squads provide students from across the country with the opportunity to push each other athletically while also developing friendships with each other and spending time on scenic college and high school campuses.
The first squad of the summer took place at Deerfield Academy, where we sent Brandon ’21, Naheem ’20, Zeinab ’19, Trina ’19, Luke ’18, Jahresse ’18 and Nia ’18. It was the first overnight squash camp for several of the students, who were pleasantly surprised by the high intensity of the program. Next up was the UVA squad, where we sent Nakayla ’17, Harriet ’17 and Trevor ’17. They enjoyed a long weekend of squash, not without some history lessons along the way! The squad took a day to visit the historical sites, including the famous Monitcello, a mansion designed and built for Thomas Jefferson (and more importantly, is on the back of the United States nickel)! The final summer squad took place at Stanford University, where Cheyenne ’17 and Nasir ’17 spent a intensive week of training with coach Mark Talbott!
What amazing opportunities for our StreetSquashers! We owe a huge thank you to NUSEA for organizing another summer of fantastic squads.
