Urban Northeast Regionals

On Saturday, Jack, Katiria, Nnemoma, Clare, and I traveled to Yale University with 38 StreetSquashers for the first tournament of the school year. The students showed up bright and early for an 8am departure. Once we arrived at Yale students changed into their StreetSquash uniforms and were ready to hit the court.

The day was filled with competitive matches and it was great to see all of the student take time to support one another. All teams were represented
from 7th to 12th grade, all of whom were interacting with one another and cheering each other on. We had a strong showing from our Middle School and High School Girls B team, both finishing second in their respective divisions. The High School Girls A Team won their division and walked away with some hard-earned medals at the end of the day. The match of the day goes to Nasir, who won 14-12 in the fifth game while his StreetSquash teammates were cheering him on!

Special thanks for Nnemoma’s sister Nkem for taking the trip up with us.

Highs: Everyone was supporting their teammates, especially Bryan ’21 and Kendra ’20 who supported their teammates through a brief illness and a tough loss!
