10th Grader Hayato Excited For Upcoming Pre-College Experience

Tenth grader Hayato is excited to embark on a two-week pre-college program at the University of Michigan this summer, hoping that it will make him feel like a math whiz inside the Spider-Man Universe.

In the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home, a doctor’s spell goes wrong causing the multiverse to open up, bringing all sorts of characters from the multiverse into Spider-Man’s universe.

“When I heard the multiverse theory, I was like, what’s that all about,” Hayato said. “So I wanted to learn more about it.”

Then he stumbled across a class about probabilities being offered at The University of Michigan.

“There are infinite probabilities in this world,” Hayato said. “A computer can input them all together and list every single thing you can possibly imagine. That’s the multiverse theory.”

This class in particular made his eyes light up.

“I saw a course about infinite probabilities,” Hayato said. “And I thought, that sounds just like the movie!”

Hayato also feels the class will align with his goals later in life. He envisions himself working in a chemistry field. It’s an area of study where he feels there are more limitless possibilities.

“There’s a lot of stuff we haven’t discovered,” Hayato said. “We’ve discovered basically everything in this world. But there are a lot of other planets and a lot of other solar systems. We could discover new elements and that’s just super interesting.”

He’s filled with hints of anxiety and zealousness as he prepares to take this class. He’s never enrolled in a program outside of New York.

“I’m going away for over a week and I’ve never done that before,” Hayato said. “So I’m very nervous but I’m also excited to learn new things.”

Normally Hayato is more introverted but he feels this opportunity will give him a chance to break out of his shell.

“I’m more of a keep-to-myself kind of person, but I’m also excited to see who else is as interested in this course as I am,” Hayato said.
