Current & Former StreetSquashers Enjoy Howe Cup

Seven StreetSquash students along with some alumni and staff competed at Howe Cup at the beginning of November. The tournament for women and girls only was held at the Specter Center in Philadelphia over three days from Nov. 4 – Nov. 6

The Howe Cup is a team tournament.

On the student side, Khissaiyia played in the C division on the “New York Charging Bulls” team. She played in three matches during the weekend and managed to win all of them, sweeping two.

In the D division, Awa and Samaiya each played four matches as part of the “Demons Dispatch.” Awa won three of her matches, Samaiya took two.

Angela and Sienna played as part of the “Death Squash” team in the D division. Siena won two of her three matches. Angela swept a match and played a hard fought match that went to five games.

Katiria Sanchez who works as a Squash Manager at StreetSquash played in the A division as part of a Boston team. She played for the “Boston Midcourt Crisis.” Katiria won two of the three matches she played.

The B division featured a team of two former StreetSquash students and one former StreetSquash staffer. Rakey Drammeh, Elizabeth Rose, and former StreetSquash Social Work Director Sasha Diamond-Lenow all played as part of the “New York Bulletproof” team. The three of them with their two other teammates managed to win the B division title. Rakey and Elizabeth won all three matches they played. Sasha took two of three.

It was a great weekend for everyone involved and we congratulate all the current and former StreetSquashers who participated in the event. Participants also enjoyed a referee clinic on Friday and a celebratory party on Saturday night at a nearby country club.
