Kicking Off the 15th Annual StreetSquash Cup

Introduction:

StreetSquash is thrilled to announce the upcoming 15th Annual StreetSquash Cup, an annual capstone event that brings together squash enthusiasts and serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness of our work and funds for programming that empowers underserved youth through education and squash. This year’s event holds even greater significance as we commemorate 25 years since StreetSquash was founded and we bid farewell to our founder and Executive Director, George Polsky.

The StreetSquash Cup: A Tradition of Impact and Competition:

The StreetSquash Cup has been a marquee fundraising event, typically generating over $1 million in support of quality educational and squash programs. The event gathers ten teams, each with a goal of raising $150,000, and sets them on a journey of friendly fundraising competition in the weeks leading up to the tournament. These teams consist of members from various squash clubs in and around New York City, including professional squash players and StreetSquash alumni.

The funds raised during the StreetSquash Cup are vital to sustaining our daily programming providing young individuals with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. This event has become a symbol of the incredible impact that a community dedicated to squash and education can achieve.

Each year, the StreetSquash Cup also features a custom slogan and logo. This year’s slogan is “In it for George,” and the logo features a squash player walking off into the sunset.

A Special Tribute to George Polsky:

This year’s StreetSquash Cup carries added significance as we honor the remarkable journey of our founder and Executive Director, George Polsky. George has been the driving force behind our organization’s success for 25 years, and his legacy is deeply intertwined with our mission. His dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment have transformed StreetSquash into what it is today.

Introducing The Polsky Family Fund:

Our goals for this year’s StreetSquash Cup are twofold. First, we aim to raise $1.5 million to continue our daily programming, ensuring that more young individuals have access to the transformative power of education and squash. Second, we strive to raise an additional $1.5 million for the creation of the “Polsky Family Scholarship Fund,” named in honor of George Polsky. This endowment will provide college scholarships to current and future StreetSquash participants, opening doors to higher education. Moreover, it will assist past participants in alleviating the burden of student loans, furthering our commitment to their success.

Join Us in the Celebration:

The 15th Annual StreetSquash Cup promises to be an extraordinary event, uniting thrilling squash competition with a profound philanthropic mission. We invite you to be part of this momentous occasion by supporting our fundraising efforts and joining us in celebrating squash, education, and the legacy of George Polsky. The event will take place at the SL Green StreetSquash Center on Saturday. Nov. 4, 2023.
